Information on Severe Cyclonic Storm “HUDHUD”:
Cyclone Alert-Ten for South Odisha Coast
The Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘HUDHUD’ over East-central Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestward and lay centered at 1730 hours IST of 9th October 2014 near latitude 14.1 degree N and longitude 88.4 degree E about 685 km southeast of Gopalpur. The system would continue to move west-northwestwards, and intensify further into a very severe cyclonic storm during next 12 hours. The system would cross north Andhra Pradesh coast around Visakhapatnam by the forenoon of 12th October 2014.
Forecast :
Rain/Thundershower would occur at many places over Odisha during next 24 hours.
Heavy R/F Warning :
Heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places over Coastal Odisha during next 24 hours.
Advice for hoisting Storm Warning Signals:
Distant Warning Signal Number TWO (DW-II) kept hoisted at Paradip and Gopalpur Ports in Odisha.
Likely impacts and actions:
Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph would commence along and off South Odisha coasts from 11th morning onwards. The wind speed would increase to 80-90 kmph along and off south Odisha coast from 12th morning.
Fishermen Warning :-
Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea and those who are in deep sea return to coast immediately.
