The UK Department for International Development’s (DFID) Global Poverty Action Fund (GPAF) supportsprojects which are focused on poverty reduction
and pursuit of the Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs)
through tangible changes to poor people’s lives including through
service delivery, empowerment and accountability and work on conflict,
security and justice. Projects will be selected on the basis of demonstrable
impact on poverty, clarity of outputs and outcomes, and value for money.
There
are 2 funding windows, the CommunityPartnership
Window and the Impact Window. The Community Parnership Window is for UK-based
nonprofits only while the Impact Window funding is for local NGOs registered in the list of eligible
countries (in addition to local organization in the UK):
Impact window funding grants are worth £36 million annually and
represent 90% of the GPAF grants. It works towards poverty reduction linked to
MDGs; projects focused on off-track MDGs prioritised. Initiatives focused on
delivering results at greater scale; innovative approaches considered suitable
for scale up.
Grant-size includes a
minimum of £250,000 and a maximum of £4 million. Annual value of grant less
than 40% of CSO’s annual income. There will be a maximum of 3 grants per CSO.
A
matching fund of at least 25% of the total budget is required. Proposals deemed to be technically strong would
stand an increased chance of being successful if they demonstrate a level of
match funding above the minimum 25%.
The
deadline for receipt of concept notes is 23:59, Tuesday 9 July.
