Information on Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “HUDHUD”: Post Landfall Outlook for districts of South Interior Odisha:
The Very Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘HUDHUD’ over westcentral Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards, crossed Andhra Pradesh coast over Visakhapatnam between 1200 and 1300 hrs IST and lay centered at 1430 hours IST of 12th October 2014 near latitude 17.8ºN and longitude 83.0ºE, about 30 km west-northwest of Visakhapatnam and 260 km Southwest of Gopalpur.
Forecast : Rain/Thundershower would occur at most places over Odisha during next 48 hours.
Heavy R/F Warning : Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangpur,Ganjam, Gajpati, Kalahandi, Nayagarh,Khurda,Puri,Nawapara,Boudh,Bolangir, Sonepur and Phulbani of South Odisha during next 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in districts of North Odisha during same period and heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in districts of North Odisha in subsequent 24 hours.
Advice for hoisting Storm Warning Signals: Local Cautionary Signal Number Three (LC-III) kept hoisted at all ports in Odisha.
Likely impacts and actions: Wind speed of 80-90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph would prevail over Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Rayagada districts during next 6 hrs and 50 to 60 kmph during subsequent 12 hrs. Squally wind speed reaching upto 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph would also prevail along and off Ganjam & Gajapati districts of Odishaduring next 12 hours.
Fishermen Warning :- Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea.
Post Landfall Outlook:- The system will rapidly reduce to severe cyclonic storm (90-120 kmph) during next three hours and further into a Cyclonic storm (60-90 kmph) in subsequent three hours. Under its influence rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places would occur over south Odisha and isolated heavy to very heavy falls over north Odisha. Wind speed 80-90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph for subsequent 6 hours over Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada,Koraput and Malkangiri districts of Odisha.
