The 2014 Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi has spent 34 years rescuing children from trafficking, slavery and child labour. His organisation 'Bachpan Bachao Andolan' has successfully rehabilitated over 83,000 children till date.
Mukti Ashram, founded in 1991, was the first centre in India for rescued bonded labourers. Since 2007, Mukti Ashram has been providing food, clothing, shelter, medical aid, psychological and legal assistance for the rescued children. In this shelter, children receive non-formal education, trauma counselling, rights based empowerment and capacity building which eases the process of their reintegration in society.
