Celebration and Gift Distribution to Disabled Women Marks Launch of NGO REWA

BANGALORE, September 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

The launch ceremony of NGO REWA (Raise Empower Women Around) turned out to be a unique event, unlike the usual ribbon-cutting ceremony, with the NGO's director Abhishek Saran distributing gifts to the residents of Swadhara, which included around 40 to 45 differently-abled recipients.

This act captured the very essence of NGO REWA, which is committed to reach out to socially and economically marginalized women, irrespective of age, caste, class or race, and facilitate their overall development.

Saran's out-of-the-box thinking led him to launch REWA by acknowledging the calibre and determination of differently-abled women at Swadhara, Centre for Rehabilitation for Distressed Women, who despite being handicapped are efficiently pursuing productive careers. The event was organised by The PRview.

"Despite so many advancements in the last decades, gender inequality in India remains one of the greatest banes of our society. There is still a large section of women who are struggling to realise their identity and strengths. We at REWA believe that empowering a woman empowers the whole family and hence it is the best way to bring radical changes in the society and to ensure development of the country," said Saran, during the launch ceremony.

Residents of Swadhara, which included around 40 to 45 differently abled women, were presented gifts and the most junior resident Jyothi cut the cake.

"It was nice a gesture by team REWA. Their concept is very good and gives more encouragement to women like us. We wish them all the best for their endeavours in future," said Ms. Halamma, chief warden, Swadhara.

"Positive and warm response from Swadhara women has given us more strength to continue our good works in future," added Ms.Reecha Mishra, Head of Operations, REWA.
