NASSCOM Social Innovation Honours 2012

NASSCOM Foundation, in association with Genpact opens entries for India's mostimpactful social enterprise projects, using technology to solve India's social and environmental issues.

The awards aim to showcase projects that demonstrate best practices in using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for social transformation. Entries for the countrywide competition are now open, and with some phenomenal projects having been showcased over the past years, NASSCOM Foundation is expecting to identify path breaking projects to be a part of this awards cycle.

If you think your 'innovative project' stands a chance to get this award, this is the time to prove it. Applications are invited from ICT led social innovation projects in the following categories: 

o   Not-for-profit organization

o   For-profit organization as a business model

o   For- profit organization through corporate social responsibility

o   Government body

o   Individual/Group

o   Student concept

o   Multi-stakeholder partnership

Eligibility criteria for applying for the Honors:

Organizations/ Departments of Government / Individuals/ Students applying for the NASSCOM Social Innovation Honours should satisfy the following basic criteria:

They should be registered Indian entities, or foreign entities with a registered presence in India. The innovation must benefit India, or a community in India The organization should be in existence in India for a minimum of one year. The Project / Initiative should have been in existence at least for one year. Students can apply as a concept or an idea.

6th NATIONAL AWARD ON ROAD SAFETY TO VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATIONS/INDIVIDUALS

 

 

The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India gives "National Award on Road Safety" to Non Government Organizations (NGOs) and individuals for their commendable work in the field of Road Safety and for appreciable service in propagating Road Safety measures. Reputed voluntary organizations registered under the Registration of Societies Act, 1860 engaged in the activities relating to Road Safety, traffic management, trauma care and any other aspect of road safety measures for a period of at least three years and also individuals may submit their applications in the prescribed proforma for 6th National Award on Road Safety conforming to the guidelines given in the scheme to the respective offices of Transport Commissioners/Secretaries (Transport) of their States/UTs latest by  26th August, 2011. The reputed NGOs may also recommend/name the other NGOs associated/working with them in the same/similar field of roads safety. The guidelines in this regard are available with the respective State Transport Commissioners/Secretaries (Transport) and may be obtained from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Transport Bhawan, New Delhi, if required. The above guidelines and the prescribed proforma are also available on the Ministry's website morth.nic.in.  Those who have applied already in response to earlier advertisement dated 20th October, 2010 need not apply afresh.

Apply now for IHEU 2011 grants programme

The International Humanist and Ethical Union is pleased to announce it is now accepting applications for the IHEU-HIVOS Humanist Network and Development programme for 2011. A total of 75,000  Euros is available for grants, with Euro 10,000 per year as the maximum annual funding for any single project. The deadline for applications is September 1, 2011 (but there is an August 1 pre-qualification deadline for groups that are not IHEU member organizations). Cordaid Nominations for HIV/AIDS AWARD 2011

The Catholic Organisation for Relief and Development (Cordaid) is seeking nominations from organisations actively involved in strengthening the linking between community- and formal health and care services for people living withHIV. Cordaid wishes to award two organisations – one civil society Organisation and one Faith Based Organisation – showing leadership, commitment and vision in this field. Awards of €10,000 each will be presented to the award winning organisations. 
Selection Criteria

The criteria for organisations selected are those who:

·         Display vision and leadership around linking community- and formal health and care services for people living with HIV

 

·         Provide evidence of substantial impact and/or success achieved in this field

 

·         Demonstrate innovative ways to strengthen the link community- and formal health and care services for people living with HIV

 

·         Demonstrate an active involvement of people affected and infected by HIV in programme development and implementation

 

·         Take into consideration sustainability (and scaling up) of their linking activities at local, national and/or regional levels (through lobby/advocacy/training)


Cordaid HIV and AIDS Award Amount

Awards of €10,000 each will be presented to the award winning organisations:

• 1 Civil Society Organisation (€10.000)

• 1 Faith Based Organisation (€10.000)

Award Delivery

The awards will be handed over to Award Winners on the 1st of December 2011 in the Netherlands at the National STI*HIV*SEX Conference. Award Winners will be invited to give presentations about their work while in the Netherlands.

Responsibilities of Awarded Organisations

The funds linked to the Award have to be used for activities strengthening linkages between community- and formal health and care services for people living with HIV, with a maximum of 7% administration costs. The funds will be made available upon receipt and approval of a detailed description of planned activities and budget (to be presented before January 31, 2012). Upon completion of the project, a brief report will be requested by Cordaid.

What kind of projects can be awarded the grants from JWF Fund 2011?

Only projects planned and faithfully implemented to solve the current water and sanitation problems by grass-roots organizations in developing countries will be considered. 
These projects include, for example:
-Installation of rainwater-harvesting tanks, ponds or digging wells;
-Development of small scale water supply systems;
-Building new toilets and upgrading existing sanitation facilities;
-Prevention of water-related disasters projects;
-Establishment and encouragement of water-efficient irrigation;
 
-Solving gender issues on water and sanitation;
-Water environment restoration activities.
*It is highly suggested that your proposed project include capacity-building/ awareness-raising programs.
*If your project is only capacity-building/ awareness-raising program, it may not be selected.
* Please note that the presented project must be implemented by March 31, 2012.
